Description
For your purchase consideration I'm offering this beautiful Buffalo Pottery Deldare Ware 13 3/4" Chop Plate/Platter/Charger. This round piece is in beautiful condition and signed by the artist "Stiller" or "Stiner" (difficult to discern signature) and is in the Fallowfield Hunt pattern. The13 3/4" diameter includes an approximately 2" rim which is beautifully painted with four hunting scenes which compliment the center scene of the plate. This plate is in beautiful condition. There are some light marks on the surface that are only noticeable when the plate is tilted. There are a few stray paint marks (from the manufacturer) on the back of the plate (pictures 11 and 12), but they in no way detract from its overall appearance. There are no chips or cracks. The rich, vivid colors and crisp black accent trim on the traditional olive green Deldare pottery are striking and display beautifully. This piece weights just over three pounds. The plate holder shown is for display only.
The backstamp reads "Made At Ye Buffalo Pottery Deldare Ware Underglaze 1908."
Deldare Ware was produced from 1908 through 1911 and then again from 1923 until 1925. Every piece was marked "made at Ye Buffalo Pottery, Deldare Ware Underglaze." It is know for its superior over-glaze that has preserved many of these pieces in pristine condition over the years. It was discontinued in 1925 and is considered very rare and desirable. This particular piece came from a fine old Virginia estate. Please see my other listings for additional pieces of Deldare Ware.
